Postcards

This postcard has images from my trip to New York. I used two repeated objects a big images and an image with a frame. I also added a gradient to my "New York".
I wanted my post cards to reflect who I am by having little things that made them unique like the pigeons and how one is flying. I also wanted my cards to be simple but have a lot of meaning. In New York dreams are made and that is what I wanted my cards to show.

This postcard was made using a clipping mask. I used pictures from my camping trip with my friends. I edited the photos and edited the words using the effects panel.
I made the postcard for fun. I wanted the background to have simplicity yet have some flare!

Chasing Thoughts

The thought behind the video

For this project we wanted to make the theme of it mysterious and suspenseful. The idea was for something to be haunting the character but in the end it was all in her head and she just needed to realize after losing her thoughts. We wanted people to realize that you shouldn't care what others think and you are your only source of stress.

Building Lego Blood??

Similarity Between Projects

Both of these videos were filmed live with little preparation. I found this to be more difficult because after filming when you are editing you can't go back and reshoot shots. Both of these videos had some difficulties. When shooting the Blood Drive footage we didn't have audio. With the Lego Video I was not able to participate in the shooting of it so it was difficult finding sound bites to use because I didn't know what was being said or where to start.

Things I Learned

I learned that you always need to keyword and organize the clips so you know which ones are good to put in the timeline. I also learned that when video taping a live event make the camera as steady as possible and to always make sure you have sound through the earphones. When editing try not to use shots where the camera is moving and use a lot of close up shots. These things can help enhance the video.

Overall

Between the two projects I think I did a pretty good job but some things I could adjust would be adding nat noise to the Blood Drive video and adjusting the voice over in the lego video so it is not as noticeable. These projects enhanced my learning so in future projects I can add voice overs and how to film live events.

Sky Mountain

This project was to make a mountain float in the sky and add two objects to make it unique. I first went through the steps of making the mountain have a point which took me a couple times to get it the way I wanted it. I learned a lot of things along the way like the refine edge tool and how to change the opacity and add effects like multiply and soft light to make the objects stand out but not a lot to make it look out of place. I would probably edit the mountain and the sky a little more so it looked more realistic but overall I think I did a good job.

This is what my mountain in the sky looked like before I edited the hue and changed opacities.

This is what my mountain looked like after I edited the hue and added a grey scale and used the multiply tool to make the image darker.       This project was to make a mountain float in the sky and add two objects to make it unique.

Final Product!

Shadow

First you have to make a copy of the layer of your original image and then use the keyboard short cut (Control T) to transform the copy of the image.  Then use the gradient tool and do black to white. Then you change the setting to multiply. I also changed the opacity some to make it look more realistic. Then you make the gaussian blur 3 pixels. Then you use the refine edge tool and make it the way you want. I enjoyed making the shadow of the tiger because it was difficult to make it realistic but fun at the same time.

We're Dancing Tonight Tonight

         Coming up with the idea

To make this music video we first came up with what we wanted to video to represent. We wanted it to be happy and to make people laugh. Then we found a song to match the theme of the music video which was the song Tonight Tonight by Hot Chelle Rae.

Starting the Process

We then made a story board by watching other music videos to get inspiration. The group that I was with made the process fun and a great learning experience because we each brought individual things to the table.

What I Learned

If I could do this differently I would add more shots at the end and do it outside of school. I think I would keep the theme and details of this project the same because I think the story behind it was good. This experience was a lot of fun and I would do it again because it was fun to create a music video of my own and working as a group.

Red Spheres

This is the sphere I made in photoshop it was difficult and challenging but I learned a lot. The shadow in photoshop to me a while to make the way I wanted it to look. The gradient was also hard to get the way I wanted it to look. The hardest part was getting the lightest spot and the darkest spot to line up so it was correct.
The sphere in illustrator was easier to make and I enjoyed making in unique. It took me a while to get the darkest parts to match up. I also wanted to make my "red" sphere stand out so I made it blue because it made me feel like it was its own and special. I also wrote my name because it is easier in illustrator to write things. I overall liked using illustrator more I think it is more user friendly.

Custom Spheres

http://pixelrockit.com/create-stylish-3d-shapes-with-adobe-illustrator/ This is the tutorial I used to make my spheres. I created my own design in illustrator.

http://layersmagazine.com/3d-texture-mapping-in-photoshop-cs6.html I used this tutorial to make my sphere in photoshop. Then I customized it by adding a gradient and making the indentions in the circle more visible.

From the video I watched I learned that color gives the viewer and yourself a different view on the circle/sphere. A sphere also represents completion and the feeling of being brought together. I used my sketch book to write out ideas for my pattern and then I put my ideas into adobe illustrator. I went through a lot of designs until I found two that I liked. In photoshop I didn't like how my sphere was boring with grey an black so I added color to make it stand out. In illustrator I thought it was easier to customize it but in photoshop I think it was easier to follow the tutorial and make the circle 3D. From each tutorial I learned how to make the pattern fit to my sphere. I also learned how to make the highlighted part stand out. I would eventually like to learn how to make it look like the sphere is deflating.

Tutorial

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxATfB8dr-c I earned how to use the pathfinder tool to make my letters connect. This is the tutorial I used to connect the cursive letters in my name. I also used this tutorial to edit the K in my name to make it unique by using the direct select tool.

Name Logo

This was my first idea for my logo but I didn't like the way the K looked compared to the cursive letters. I think I did really well with making my letters flow together. I would change the way my colors look because the still don't explain who I am the way I want them to. I would like to learn how to make the circles around my ellipse stand out more and how to make the match the cursive type.
I edited the K to compliment the cursive letters.

Then I realized that the colors weren't working together to say what I wanted so I experimented and ended up with this color scheme..

After I edited the K and found the color scheme I wanted. I thought is was missing something so I added something out
of the "ellipse"

Google Logo

Google used primary colors in their logo but used a secondary color on the L to show that google doesn't follow the rules. The Google logo is a custom made logo made by Ruth Kedar. The google logo went through a process to show that they don't follow the rules. They also wanted to to make it unique so they have many variations to make it fun when special events occur.

Anatomy of type

This is the Anatomy of Iowan Old Style this font has many types of technical writing uses. I enjoyed figuring out what font I am and how the font projects my image.

AB sequence

For this Video we had to get a person from point A to point B in a maximum of 10 shots. Sarah Price was my featured person in this film. she went to the choir room because she loves to sing. The 6 shots we used were Close -Up of the face and hand, a POV shot (Point Of View), an extreme wide shot, wide shot, an OTS (Over The Shoulder), and a Medium shot.

Close-UP: Shows emotion and detail.
POV: Gives you an idea of what the subject is doing.
Extreme Wide: Shows the environment but doesnt highlight the subject.
Wide Show: Shows environment but at the same time shows more of the subject than an Extreme Wide show.
OTS: Shows what the subject is doing and part of their surroundings.
Medium: Shows the subject form waist up and shows some detail.

Pencil Project

Create using illustrator

To begin this project we started off with a simple peel and pencil
container then...
We made our design more complex by personalizing it and making
unique to fit our personality Lastly...
We used the same skills but came up with our own complimentary objects and using
repeated elements.

What is Graphic Design

What Is Graphic Design?

Graphic Design is using words, colors, fonts, and shapes to convoke an emotion.

It is your imagination/thinking made visual. Graphic Design is a way to show your personal views by using memorable representation. When expressing your idea you want to make the viewer think and convoke a certain emotion. Finally your design needs to relate to the world today so you can connect with the viewer.
